1/ Veggie Pride 2009 in Lyon, Milan and Prague

We are pleased to announce that this year the Veggie Pride will take place simultaneously in Lyon, Milan and Prague. We hope to meet you in one of these cities on 16 May 2009 in order to march together and raise our voices for the animals.

The Veggie Pride is a demonstration which encourages vegetarians and vegans to go public and show how proud they are of refusing to participate in the massacre of animals to feed humans.

2/ Internet sites

The Veggie Pride has become an international event. For this reason, the www.veggiepride.org site has been transformed into an international site, with texts about the Veggie Pride and the manifesto to sign. Each local Veggie Pride has its own site.

The French Veggie Pride site is now www.veggiepride.fr.

The Italian Veggie Pride site is www.veggiepride.it.

The Czech Veggie Pride site is www.veggiepride.xf.cz.

3/ Organisation of the march in Lyon

For this Veggie Pride in Lyon, there will be various happenings along the route of the march.

Associations and groups are welcome to organise stands to inform the marchers and passers by about vegetarianism or animal rights.

You can help make this day an exceptional event. Each person’s participation is especially important this year as the French Veggie Pride will take place in a smaller city where demonstrations are not held as often as in Paris. We are going to make an impact.

We would be pleased if you would:

- Sign and get other people to sign the manifesto on the www.veggiepride.org site;

- Prepare placards and banners expressing your pride in being vegetarians and vegans for the animals;

- Distribute this newsletter among your contacts and on forums and discussion lists;

- Download, print and distribute the new tract in PDF here (in French);

- Organise group travel from your town or region in order to share expenses. If you live in Lyon, offer accommodation to people coming for the march;

- Join the forum if you want to help with organisation.

4/ Section for vegetarian families

In 2008, the Italian Veggie Pride organisers invited vegetarian and vegan parents and children to take part in the demonstration, and to create a specific section in the march. This year, we are extending this invitation to families in France.

It is important to show the existence of people who are opposed to meat-eating not just for themselves but also for their children; and also to show that children can be perfectly capable of understanding that eating animals is neither a proof of love nor of respect for them.
